Effect of Ta content on Microstructure and Phase Transformation Temperatures of Ti75.5-Nb25.5 (%at.) Alloy

β-titanium shape memory alloys are used as memory-based biomedical applications and superelastic materials because they made up of non-toxic components. Also, their behaviors more semilar with that human bone dental biological tissues, such biocompatibility, superior corrosion resistance, low density, modulus elasticity. In the current study, effect Ta additive on physical properties Ti-Nb alloy has been investigated. Ti-Nb-Ta samples were produced Tantalum (Ta) element was substituted instead Niobium (Nb), induction arc melting to mixed powders. To investigate crystal structure, microstructure, phase transformation temperatures all samples, X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopic (SEM), Calorimetry (DSC) measurements have used. Both β-rich α peaks observed in XRD SEM measurements. DSC results revealed only austenite decreased by additive, additionally, enthalpy change in〖 E〗_3 sample ( Ti_75.5 Nb_22.5 Ta_2 (%at)) highest value, while E_4 Nb_21.5 Ta_3 lowest respective value.
